  • Endure It!

There's nothing that can teach you patience except enduring a test or trial that lasts longer than you expect or want it to. It is not until you are at stretched to the limit and witness for yourself, the supernatural sustaining grace of God, that you are strengthened in both your faith and resolve. You can't grow up in God without first going through the furnace of affliction.

I know it can be tough and unpleasant, but know that God allows us to go through difficulties, not to break us down, but to build us up, so we'll come back stronger, wiser, better and more equipped to face the storm on the next time.

Somebody reading this blog today is going through a personal storm. You don't see the end in sight and you want to know how long you'll have to go through it.

But instead of focusing on how long, think about how strong you'll be after the storm passes over. Consider how much more powerful your testimony will be. You'll be able to look somebody else in the eye and tell them, "This too shall pass," because you'll remember how heavy your burden was and how God lifted it. You'll think back on how dark the night was and  how joy came in the morning. You'll consider how distressed you felt and how God gave you peace in the midst of it all.

Please know that, God is developing your witness and your testimony right now, so you can tell somebody else, if you just hold on just a while longer, it's gonna be alright. It's gonna work out soon.

I know that many times, we would prefer that the storm just skip over us altogether. But if we never had to face any giants, we wouldn't know that our God is a giant slayer. If we never came face to face with any obstacles, we would never be able to say that we're overcomers.

So today, I feel led to encourage you to endure. Don't stop believing. Don't throw in the towel. Don't be discouraged. Rather, stand firmly fixed in your faith, knowing that you serve a faithful God who is a deliverer. He is a healer and a provider. He's a strong tower and a way maker.

He sees every hindrance, roadblock and stumbling block that has come to trip you up, but you won't fall. You won't succumb. You won't be defeated, because the Lord is on your side. The Holy Spirit is dwelling within you.

And every time you might even think about giving up, the Holy Spirit will begin to minister to your spirit and build you up. He'll stir up a "I believe I can make it" way down in your soul. The Lord will send you a word to empower you to keep on going forward another day... just like this one.

Things might be rough right now, but endure it.

Joy is coming in the morning...!

  • Michelle Obama's Shorts Cause A Stir

No doubt about it. This story's got legs. The first lady took a look-see at the Grand Canyon with her family last weekend while the rest of the country got a good look at her gams. Michelle Obama braved the blistering Arizona sun with an even braver style of shorts.

This winter we got a view of the fashionista-in-chief's powerful arms, and now there's proof that she's got stems to match. The bare legs set off a firestorm of buzz on the Web, with looky-loos typing in "michelle obama short shorts" into the Search box.

The Huffington Post declared that Michelle O. was the first first lady to step out of Air Force One in anything close to Daisy Dukes and asked, "After all, can you imagine Laura Bush or Patricia Nixon doing the same?" Soliciting online opinions, the site is holding a poll on whether the first lady has the "right to bare legs."

To be clear, the shorts pictured are above the knee. But note that the first lady pairs the shortish shorts with running shoes. She looks like a tourist at a national park, except with Air Force One behind her. Another fashion accessory that's turning heads: Michelle Obama's confidence.

The Washington Post's Fashion Editor Robin Givhan told the "Today" show that we're conflicted about how we want our first lady to look: "We don't see first ladies looking informal, and I think a wonderful thing that she's bringing informality to that position. But we're still grappling with what the first lady is supposed to be all about."

  • What Did He Show You?

I want to talk to you about something very important today, which is, learning to judge your circumstances by what God has revealed to you and not by what things look like. Looks can be awfully deceiving, especially when you're  always depending upon a natural manifestation to confirm a divine revelation.

Of course that doesn't mean God never confirms His word through signs and wonders, because He absolutely does. Nevertheless, we must be careful not to rely too heavily on what we can physically see with our eyes, hear with our ears, and touch with our hands as a means of proving what's to come.

God's word stands alone and His ability to bring it to pass is not dependent upon space, time, or any other natural law. He is a sovereign God and He has the capacity to do whatever He pleases.

So, the next time things don't seem to be lining up with what God has spoken over your life, don't panic and begin thinking you've faltered in your faith. Rather, hold on to that revelation you have and when necessary, ask yourself, "What did GOD show me?"

Don't focus on what it looks like today; what others have to say about it; what happened once before; or what future projections appear to be.

    No.

    What did He show you?

Because at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

Sure, I know it can be tough to hold on to a word from the Lord when everything around you seems to be going in the complete opposite direction. But that's when you have to dig way down deep and focus on the faithfulness of God and not the situation that appears to be contradictory.

Trust me when I tell you, you have to be able to overlook your right now, in order to to look over into your future. You've gotta know that when it comes to divine revelation, "What you see is what you get." If He revealed it, He'll perform it, as long as you're in the right position to receive it!

    BLESSINGS TO YOU ALWAYS,

  • The Power to Stay Afloat

Well another week is upon us once again. For me, it's going to be a very busy one. I was looking at my calender  yesterday and realized just how many things I have scheduled for the week.  You know, ladies, we wear a lot of hats, don't we? But it never ceases to amaze me how God gives us the grace to juggle numerous roles and still stay afloat.

That's what I want to talk to you about today... the power to stay afloat.

I don't know about you, but if I ever took time to stop and really ponder all the things I had to do in order to carry out God's purpose and plan for my life, I would be really intimidated and overwhelmed by it all. But as I always say, when God calls you to complete a task, He always equips you to accomplish it successfully.

The fact that you've been hand-picked and singled out by the Father, is the only thing that makes it all possible--not your intellect; connections; financial status; organizational ability; business savvy; personality; planning efforts... or anything else. It's your calling and election by God that puts you in position to live out your destiny.

    Always remember that.

Without the Lord on your side, like a small overloaded boat with leaks in it, you'd surely sink. But because you are anchored in Jesus Christ, covered by His blood, empowered by His Spirit, and enabled by His anointing, you have the power to stay afloat.

Today, I encourage you to go forth. Don't be afraid to say yes to everything God has placed in your heart to do. You may not know exactly how to go about it.  You may feel stretched and challenged. There are times when you'll feel like you're indeed going to sink, but you won't.

Never forget, God doesn't challenge and stretch you to hurt you, but rather, He makes you stronger, better, and more resilient. It's what I like to call "refinement for the assignment." It is under the weight of the call and the pressure of the promise, that your character is refined, your vision developed and your trust in God, strengthened.

So, make a determination that you're going to be, do, and possess all God has promised you could. Don't get caught worrying about sinking and drowning under the load, because Christ is your anchor. As the old hymn says, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand..."

Have a marvelous and productive week!

  • Coming Into Your Own

Can you recall one of the most trying situations you've ever been through? I'm not talking about a minor discomfort or a small inconvenience, either. I mean, the kind of circumstance that rocked your world; one that had you thinking there was no way you could make it through... the one that nearly caused you to wave the white flag of surrender, throw in the towel, pack it in and retreat.

Got it in your mind yet?

    Me too.

Now, I want you to consider something that serves as the anchor of this post: That hard thing you went through, if the enemy had his way, would've knocked you off course; but because you didn't buckle under the pressure, that trial acted as a launching pad or a springboard to thrust you forth into your destiny. The intense pain you felt at the time, was building your strength and assisting the process of you finally coming into your own.

That situation jolted you out of your "sleep," forcing you to run to God and seek Him as never before, for direction, clarity, and answers. But, chances are, the Lord didn't immediately give you the answers you were looking for, did He?

Rather, He allowed you to remain in that tight space for a while. I know it must have felt  like cruel and unusual punishment at the time. But it wasn't. What you didn't realize in the heat of the trial is that, there's no way to "grow into yourself," until you first grow out of your need to be comfortable, because faith and comfort don't peacefully coexist.

As the saying goes, "You have to become comfortable with being uncomfortable." It just comes with the territory, and it's what you must endure if you want to come into your own.

I know the idea of dealing with uncertainty, insecurity, and instability, is not necessarily an attractive proposition. But here's the beauty of it all. After you've suffered, cried, prayed, fasted, and travailed, when you come out on the other end, you come out as a new person. And when  the old you dies off, then a new individual emerges from the wreckage.

This individual of which I speak, instead of being destroyed and broken down, is refined, renewed, and ready to be used by God.

Today, that individual, is you. Though you could have, you didn't give up. Some say you should have quit, but,  thanks be to God, you kept on going. As a result, you can now walk with your head held high, as a chosen vessel of honor fit for the Master's use.

Perhaps, you're going through a season of testing right now. If so, that just means God wants you to be more fruitful and productive. There are new heights and new levels of victory He wants to lead you to.

Don't run away. Stand firm. After all, you're coming out to come in... coming out of that trial and coming into your own.

  • This Is Just Training Ground

Life can seem pretty hectic at times and it's easy to feel like you're just going through the motions. But every now and then, you need to remind yourself that you're just being prepared to lay hold of your ultimate destiny, that's all. And it is through the storms of life, the pressure-filled circumstances, and the challenging assignments God gives us on a day-to-day basis, that we become ready to operate on the platform He has prepared for us.

Sadly though, many of us pray to be used by God as anointed vessels and living examples of His glory, but as soon as we hit a slight bump in the road, we want to throw in the towel and quit. But we have to realize that, training is never easy, because it forces us to become acclimated to new and unfamiliar territory. It requires us to be flexible, agile, and faith-filled even when we'd rather retreat into that corner best known as our comfort zone.

Training stretches us, tests us and pushes us to the limit. It forces us to dig deep and tap into skills and gifts we never knew we possessed, or ones that have been lying dormant for far too long. Training ground, though extremely uncomfortable, is necessary for our spiritual, physical, and emotional conditioning.

You see, God won't send us out into the world ill-equipped to accomplish what needs to be done. No, it doesn't work that way. Always remember; God prepares us in obscurity, for what He will do openly to bring glory to His name. Behind closed doors, He carefully molds, refines, guides, and teaches us.

God does challenge our perspective, so we can really see what we're made of, before we ever get to the place where He's destined us to be. That's a huge part of what training ground is all about...showing you what you're made of; challenging you to do what you thought you couldn't do; be what you thought you couldn't be; go where you thought you couldn't go; and possess what you thought you couldn't possess.

So, if you're feeling squeezed and pushed beyond your limit, I'm here to put your anxiety to rest and let you know, this is just training ground. Know that the intensity of your training is a good indication of the magnitude of your mission and your divine purpose.

What we're going through behind closed doors,  is getting us in a position to walk through the open doors God has already set aside for us. I don't know who I'm blogging for today, but you're not reading this by accident. God is serving you notice that all the pain and pressure has been for your development.

Oh my, I think I'm about to blog myself happy! Smile LOL

If you know, after reading this, that you've been going through God's divine training camp, instead of worrying and complaining, begin thanking God for your training. I know that it's not always easy, but you've got to be prepared in the dark for what God's going to do for you in the light.

Be encouraged today as God gets you in shape for what's to come. It's going to be worth all the pain you've patiently endured. I'm reminded of a scripture I love which says, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18 KJV).

I wonder if I can get anybody to praise God in advance for their "shall be!"

  • No Amount of Preparing...

I remember going to natural childbirth classes with my husband when we were expecting our second child, (with my 1st child I had been put to sleep). At the time, we thought that learning breathing techniques, taking a tour of the labor and delivery wing of the hospital, and educating ourselves on how to read the monitors, was enough to prepare us for childbirth.

But let me tell you what (Shaking my head as I have a flashback)...

When those labor pains hit, no amount of preparing I had done equipped me for what I had to go through that evening in May of 1998. After 10 hours of excruciating labor, it was time to push.

"I can do this," I thought. Hey, I had practiced breathing and relaxing techniques in Lamaze class. My Husband was there holding my hand. "You can do it baby," he said calmly and confidently. I was ready to push.

"Bear down," the Doctor said. I pushed as hard as I could.

One push. Two. Three...Four. Ummm...shouldn't there be a baby by now? I started getting lightheaded and the baby's heart rate began dropping rapidly.  After an hour of pushing the Doctor said, if you can't push the baby out on your own, we're going to use other measures.

I didn't want that. I didn't want to prolong the stress on me or the baby.

So the next time a contraction hit, I scrunched up my face, and pushed until I couldn't see. I mean, literally, I could not see anything. The nurses had to give me oxygen, but you know what?

    I pushed that baby out.

And sometimes, you'll have to push when you can't see anything! It might be hard, but don't stop. You can do it.

Remember, when it comes down to it, preparation without the power of God is insufficient. You see, I knew what to do "in theory", but it wasn't until I experienced that thing, that the innate ability God had given me to bring forth manifested.

Listen. Whatever that vision is that God placed in you, though it may not come as easily as you thought it would, you have the power to give birth. It's not about how many books you read, how much research you do, or how many advisers you have, only God can give you the strength and wisdom you need to push out that vision.

When it gets tough, He'll give you the power and perseverance to stay the course.

Now, that doesn't mean you shouldn't prepare. You should. In some ways, Lamaze class did help me relax when the pain got intense. But once it was time to deliver, most of my training went out the window. All that mattered was taking every ounce of strength I had to bring forth the fully developed seed that had been growing inside me for nine months.

I believe that there is a fully developed seed in everyone just waiting to get out; but you can't get preoccupied because you don't know all there is to know before you push. Nobody does. All you need to do is just believe God to empower you to push.

    Everything will be alright.

Don't be afraid. Don't be intimidated by the task that lies before you. The Lord has already given you everything you need to be fruitful.

Just bear down and give it all you've got!

  • Coming Into Who You Are

    Coming Into Who You Are

Do you know who you are? That is a question that many still ask; Even at the age of sixty. Do you know what you see when you look at your self? Do you know what you are, does it matter to you? Are you just in the world going along from day today, never giving it a thought. You get up, shower, coffee, dress, and go about your day. Stop. Who are you? Is anything getting to you? Are you in love? Do you know what love is? Are you mad, weeping for no reason? Do you love the feel of the sun rays hitting you, as you walk? Do the clouds do anything for you when you look up? Do you look up; do you know that the clouds are there? Have you given any thought to life, how do you know who you are, how do I find out? Do you know your age, your real age? Do you have a soul?

Find a place for you and rest in it. In your room, office, park, a place that is clam, a thinking place, but not thinking. Do you pray, do you know how to pray, do you know who to pray to, is it a form, or a moving being? Does it shine, talk who or what do you pray to? When did it start, how long has this thing called pray gone on in your life? A minute, a day, an hour, weeks, months, years, again who do you pray to? Do you know who God is? Where he came from, how long he has been here, what is this thing or person called God? Have you read anything about him, do you think its true or have you given it any thought? In this quiet place that you have made for yourself, position yourself on your knees that's how you start.

Start talking to God, just talk, he hears you, let it all go, everything that you feel, and what ever that is in you, tell God. He already knows it before you say it, there is no need to lie. You can tell him the truth; he takes you as you are. How does it feel? What am I suppose to feel? You won't know until it happens. As time goes on, and it is not over night, it takes years, to be free, from self, completely free.

Take the time to let God show you who you really are all you have to do is just listen!

    PEACE & BLESSINGS TO ALL!

  • Wisdom of The World

There are many influences which compete for our attention; many different inputs which seek to shape our view of the world, and, in turn, direct how we make decisions about our life. There is also an enemy who greatly desires to win this competition. The enemy is battling for the hearts of men, women and children; and he knows if he can win the battle of the mind, the heart will remain his.

Many of the battle lines are easy to recognize. For example, the direct assault from various forms of sexual temptation and drugs claim numerous victims every day. But there are many other plans of the enemy which place hidden mine fields along the path and destroy those who are not careful where they step. Perhaps the best disguised and most effective weapon of the enemy is that of worldly wisdom.

Since the Garden of Eden the enemy has propagated a set of values which sound wise and appealing, but which consistently lead down a path of destruction. His "wisdom" attempts to define happiness and success - tells us we must achieve, push, and obtain in order to succeed and be fulfilled. But if we will come into the presence of God, we will see the world's wisdom for what it truly is...foolishness.

    1 Corinthians 3:18-19
"Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight."

The values of the world are continually promoted in every type of media and from every possible class of people - even sometimes from those who profess faith in Jesus. But these values are lies! They are weapons of the enemy used to pull us away from God...they are foolishness!! And when we choose to live as a captive to world values, we have chosen to live outside of God's perfect plan; "Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God" (James 4:4).

God's plan will always require faith - always require us to be "sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1). This often means we must have the faith and courage to stand alone. Though the world may label us a "fool," we must continue (and continue some more) to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5).

We are being called to become a fool to the world, but this is not an easy task. We have been well "educated" in the world system, and now must reshape the way we think; "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2). This renewal process will take determined, consistent, and intentional prayer and the study of His Word. Let's refuse to live in a cloud of deception. Let's make an uncompromising commitment to God and break free from the wisdom of the world!

  • What's Next?

I like two things: Stability and predictability and as I'm sure you know by now, God is anything but predictable. Romans 11:33 says His ways are past finding out. So, in order not to be at my wits end along life's road to destiny, I've learned that it's necessary to relinquish control and avoid trying to figure God out.

When it comes to our Christian walk, we easily understand the importance of giving up sin and putting on righteousness, right? Sure we do.  But what we don't seem to get is the fact that, giving up our plans, our agenda, and our need to orchestrate our own lives is equally as important.

But this can be quite challenging because, in order to say yes to God we also have to be willing to say yes to ambiguity about our future and the path we'll have to take to get there. But that's OK, because once we release the need to "steer our own ship" and place God at the helm, then we can enjoy our "right now" a whole lot more.

You know, I think a single two-word question often robs us of our ability to be content with where we are today and live in the moment.

What's next?--that's the million dollar question that will leave us bankrupt if we let it.

    How so?

Well, that obsessive need to know things that we really CAN'T know now, sets off a cycle that fluctuates between highs and lows, ups and downs, happiness and sadness, exhilaration and depression. In the end, our energy, vitality, joy, and peace is sucked right out of us because of our fixation on "What's next".

But we need to ask ourselves a question: Should I really even be worrying about what's next?

According to Matthew 6:34 we are never to worry about tomorrow. The King James Version says, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." In other words, there's enough on your plate right now without stressing over the future.

Before I end this post, I'll say it again;  learn to live for today; be in the moment.  I know it can be tough not to have all the details of the: Who, what, when, where, why, how, if, if not, and everything in between. But that's just not the way God works.

He does things in His own time and in accordance with  His divine purpose and plan. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11).

As long as He knows what's next, I don't have to.
